Kiefer Sutherland received a nice celebrity X-Mas present from a Los Angeles judge - he gets to serve time for his DUI in a private jail! Paris Hilton wasn’t given the same treatment…what a shame. Sutherland is required to serve 48 days in the Glendale City Jail, spend 5 years on probation, and take alcohol education classes for 18 months in addition to therapy sessions for 6 months. Will this stop production on the right wing’s favorite show, 24? Oh wait, there’s already that Writer’s Strike thing going on…

Kiefer Sutherland, last seen here accepting ACTRA Award of Excellence award at the residence of the Canadian Consulate General in Los Angeles, the day after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence early morning, September 25, 2007, in Hollywood. According to various reports, around 1 a.m., Sutherland, made an illegal U-turn when officers pulled him over, the 24 actor subsequently failed a field sobriety test. He was booked at the LAPD Hollywood station and was released at 5:42 a.m. on $25,000 bail. A court date for Oct. 16 has been set for Sutherland to appear regarding these charges. Because the actor was previously convicted of DUI in 2004, he faces a mandatory minimum sentence of four days in jail if convicted for his most recent arrest.

Sutherland is also currently serving a five-year probation term for the prior DUI. In 1989, he was arrested for DUI and carrying a concealed and loaded weapon. In a deal with prosecutors, he pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving, and the other charges were dropped.

In 1993, he was arrested for DUI, pleaded no contest for the second time to alcohol-related reckless driving. He was given the option of serving 12 days in jail or performing 211 hours of community service, choosing the latter. Before being stopped by police on Tuesday morning, Sutherland attended the FOX Fall Eco-Casino party at Area nightclub where he was photographed on the red carpet by Getty Images.

Pictured here, one of four large Mastiffs was seized by animal services officers from the estate of actor Ving Rames in Brentwood, California. According to reports, an unidentified man was mauled to death by Rames’ dogs and found on the front lawn of his home. “We removed three mastiffs and one bulldog – they were the size of lions – from Rhames’ property,” said Capt. Matt Blake of the Los Angeles Police Department “but we have no solid evidence that they were the cause of death.” The victim was described only as a 40-year-old African-American and was employed in the home of Rhames. The actor was not home at the time of the mauling. The animals have been taken to an animal shelter and are being examined for traces of blood, Capt. Blake said. Nicole Richie pleaded guilty today to driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to about four days in jail and fined by a Court Commissioner Steven K. Lubell who said she was lucky nobody was killed when she drove the wrong way on a freeway. Wearing a loose-fitting Moschino black dress (possibly concealing a rumored pregnancy), oversized glasses, and hair conservatively pulled back, Richie showed up 10 minutes early for her 8:30 a.m hearing, arm-in-arm with her boyfriend, Joel Madden, who was also dressed in all black. Matching her somber outfit, Richie’s mood was described as serious but not emotional as she was sentenced to a plea agreement of jail time and a fine of $2,048 worked out between prosecutors and her lawyers. Richie will serve three years of probation and was warned that she would go to county jail for a year if she violated the terms of agreement. A wax figure of Lindsay Lohan is now on display at Madame Tussauds in New York City with Lohan dressed old-school prison garb. Lohan was busted yesterday for drunk driving but defended herself in an email to Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, the show reported on its Web site Tuesday night. “I am innocent… did not do drugs they’re not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin’s mom I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy,” Lohan wrote. She has reportedly checked herself into undisclosed rehab center for the third time in the past year but rumors have also surfaced that she is holed up at Chateau Marmont. Lohan is still set to appear in the film Dare to Love Me, despite her arrest yesterday, said Bowline Entertainment production company consultant Michael Sands. “The producers have compassion and kindness for her, so for now she’s insured and still with the movie,” he said. The film is supposed to begin filming this summer.

A picture of The Santa Monica Police Department where Lindsay Lohan was arrested on July 24, 2007 in Santa Monica, California. Lohan, 21, was charged with drunken driving and cocaine possession and released on $25,000 dollars bail. It is plausible that Lohan will have to serve jail time for her recent offenses. Coincidentally, Lohan has trial dates set for August 24th in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica where the crimes took place.
