DJ Spooky
Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky) is known for his contributions to the multicultural digital arts scene based in Manhattan. He has remixed and recorded with a wide variety of artists ranging from Metallica to Kool Keith and he has collaborated with major figures from the reggae and jazz worlds.
Miller has performed throughout the world from festivals to opera houses and dance clubs. His work as a visual and conceptual artist was featured at the 2007 Venice Biennale, and his first DVD is scheduled for release in early 2008.
In November 2007, Miller will open his latest work Link City Chicago. A collage installation projection in four sections (City of the Past, City of the Future, Third World City, and Industrialized City), Link City Chicago examines the idea of the urban landscape as a legible text, and looks at the global city from the viewpoint of how form and function are evolving in the radically accelerated information economy.
Link City Chicago is commissioned by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with the Chicago History Museum, and is supported by Getty Images.
Pam Grossman Pam Grossman is a Creative Researcher at Getty Images. While this sounds like a completely fabricated job title, it is, in fact, a very real one that consists of analyzing the visual landscape and studying cultural behavior to help determine what pictures our photographers should be creating. She studied anthropology and art at NYU because she thought they were fascinating and fun, but could not have imagined a job that actually, well, utilized her degree. She is thrilled to bits that she has found one. Also, she is a total mythology dork whose heart skips a beat at the mere mention of the word “centaur.”
