ORANGE ‘BELONGING’ - BEHIND THE SCENES

There has been a lot of speculation around here about the fantastic new ‘Orange’ ad featuring various people in a park who disappear and reappear throughout. It’s done so well and seamlessly that everyone has been wondering: was this done for real? No CGI?? Well, it seems it has.

How did they do it? Well, by a combination of intense choreography and rehearsal, running in and out of frame when in a blind spot, and of course - digging holes in the ground to jump into! Take a look here to see. The commercial took 2 months of rehearsals and weeks to shoot - but the result is impressive. With films like ‘Casino Royale’ being applauded for not using CGI excessively - do I smell a trend to return to doing things the old-fashioned way?

The choregraphy reminds me another Tv commercial by Orange. Text is “Relationships they are getting better with time”. A man and a woman , both senior something , are moving around in their interior and in their garden in a subtle, tender and graceful choregraphy.
